foldback:

This the library at the newspaper where I work (and if you want to know where that is, you can do your own investigative work). Every story clip is sorted by name, city and subject, and the clips go back to the 1920s.

The other day, I was looking for a clip from 1935 for the parent of a friend, and I spent about half an hour digging through these little brown envelopes for it. Most of the envelopes in the back rode up and jammed the drawers, and none of the drawers close properly anymore. And the envelopes are mostly torn, leaving the clips hanging out.

We probably need a better archive.

On the official side; The Ministry of Archeology formed a technical committee to check out the burned building of the Egyptian Scientific Institute. Another 2 committees formed for the same purpose, they were formed by Ministry of Culture, and Civilized Coordination Authority. The final result says that the building needs 2.5 Million Egyptian Pounds ($420.000) for restoration, and this process will take 1 year according to Mohammed Ali Ibrahim the Minister of Archaeology.

The photos in the article are heartbreaking, but I’m glad to read about the quick response for restoration
